FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ONE GUY. ONE GUITAR. ONE INTERNET.
|
With the proliferation of file sharing, record companies have been steadily downsizing for almost a decade now. Where the music
industry will wind up exactly, no one really knows. However, amid the rubble of a crumbling music industry, the Indie musician is
thriving. Thriving on new opportunities and the one constant throughout this whole reorganization trend: People love music. This
is exactly what Colorado-based singer-songwriter, Todd Corcoran, hopes to capitalize on with his latest recording, Welcome to
CorkCoreRun.
Todd Corcoran is like thousands of other independent musicians today. Musicians that no longer have to sit around waiting to
get “permission” to make music from a record label.
The Internet and iTunes have done for music today what the record player and the printing press started years earlier: They
bring music to the masses. The difference being that instead of bringing only a small sampling of music into your living room, it is
now possible for anyone with a handful of songs from every corner of the world to be heard.
“I've had people all across the country download my songs. People from the UK too. This kind of exposure just wouldn't have
been possible for a small independent artist 15 years ago,” says Corcoran.
Although it isn't all sunshine and roses for the independent artist. Opportunity does not guarantee success. Some say The
Internet has watered down the music industry. There is no longer a filter, which makes it difficult and time consuming to find
anything “good.”
“To truly survive as an independent artist you still have to write songs people want to hear, play for people, build an audience,
that's never going to change,” says Corcoran.
All in all today is a good time to be an Indie artist. What the music industry has in store for them tomorrow is anyone's guess.
Colorado-based singer-songwriter Todd Corcoran is Nick Drake meets Johnny Cash mixed with some flamenco, swingin' Hendrix.
After five years of side projects, he has just returned with his second album, Welcome to CorkCoreRun.

all kinds of music. Over the years, this love has been transformed into a style that is accessible and wide ranging and can best
be described as “eclectic.” Today, as a solo artist, Todd Corcoran continues to explore his unrestricted range of influences as
